Easy installation

To find the easy installation guide, go to AppOptics home page and click on the “Add Host” button. It will show you these steps to install the agent via our msi package:

  1. Download agent msi installer from https://files.solarwinds.cloud/windows-solarwinds-snap-agent/solarwinds-snap-agent.msi
  2. Run the installer as Administrator and provide your API key when requested. The installer also supports command line installation.

Note

If agent installation fails, you can check the C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Snap\log directory for the installation log file.

Advanced Installation

Follow these steps to manually and install the agent:

  1. Download agent msi installer from https://files.solarwinds.cloud/windows-solarwinds-snap-agent/solarwinds-snap-agent.msi

  2. Copy solarwinds-snap-agent.msi file to a temporary location like C:\temp.

  3. Open a command prompt as Administrator and run following command with your API token:

    set SOLARWINDS_TOKEN=<your api token>
    
    msiexec /q /lv* swisnap.log /i c:\temp\solarwinds-snap-agent.msi EULA=accept TOKEN=%SOLARWINDS_TOKEN%

Note

If agent installation fails, you can check c:\temp\swisnap.log for any installation errors.

Upgrade

  1. Download agent msi installer from https://files.solarwinds.cloud/windows-solarwinds-snap-agent/solarwinds-snap-agent.msi
  2. Run the installer as Administrator.

Note

If you’ve made local changes to C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Snap\config.yaml or default task files under C:\ProgramData\SolarWinds\Snap\tasks.d, the package manager should preserve those changes either by default or with an optional setting, please refer to your package manager manual for details.

Troubleshooting

Uninstall

You can uninstall the SolarWinds Snap Agent software from the Programs and Features Control Panel. The SolarWinds Snap Agent will be automatically removed from the Infastructure Host view after 60 minutes.
